Waltham, flat box 8-day lever escapement chronometer, 15J, 37 size movement mounted within heavy brass tub having nickel-plated bezel and held within flat wooden box measuring approximately 5.5" x 5.5" x 2.5", handwritten "Correct Time" label within upper lid, white enamel DS dial with winding indication aperture, SW-SS, lever escapement, nickel damascene, s#18143800. This flat box configuration is the least commonly seen of the styles among the Waltham 8-day lever escapement chronometers. Selections from the collection of Tom McIntyre. CONDITION:
Mvt: Running on a partial wind but making a pronounced clicking noise when winding so in need of overhaul to inspect winding mechanism, fine-plus cosmetic mvt condition overall, scratch between barrel arbor and edge of plate, some typical fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere; dial with some hls including a group between 4 and 5; fine hands, minute with oxide in areas; brass tub shows medium wear, some scratches, some wear through nickel finish of bezel; wooden box shows medium wear, typical scratches, not latching closed, missing its locking key.
